Simple Tricks to Chill Your Wine - tricks

We’ve listed simple tricks to chill your wine:

Add some salt

You’re probably already aware that putting wine in a bucket of ice and cold water, rather than ice alone, will chill your wine faster. Did you know that you can speed up the process even more by adding salt? Salt reduces the freezing point of water and allows it to become colder without turning into ice, which cools your wine faster!

Give it a spin

If the water/ice/salt method isn’t chilling your wine fast enough, keep the bucket nearby and gently spin the wine bottle in the ice water every couple minutes. Spinning the bottle moves the contents inside, allowing more wine to come into contact with the cold glass, and chilling it faster. This method works best for non-sparkling wines!

Wrap the bottle in a wet towel/cloth

While putting wine in the freezer will chill it relatively quickly, to speed up the process you can wet a clean dish towel/cloth and wrap it around the wine bottle before placing it in the freezer.

The dampness of the towel holds in cold better, and having the icy cold towel pressed against the bottle ensures that the entire surface of the bottle is being chilled.

Divide and conquer

Smaller amounts of liquid chill faster, so if needed, you can pour your wine into individual glasses first, then place those in the fridge or freezer. Make sure to keep them on a level surface so you don’t end up with spilt wine everywhere!

enjoy a chilled glass of wine

You can use these tricks for your next event, maybe even share them with your friends and guests. These methods are simple ways to ensure you and your guests can enjoy wine at a nice temperature- and not at room temperature, because no one wants that.
