A little bottle sitting at each place setting does three jobs at once. It’s the gift, it’s the place card, and it’s part of the table styling. That’s why mini wine bottles have become one of the most practical table gifts going around for weddings, conferences and milestone parties. The standard choice is a 200mL sparkling bottle with a custom label, one per guest. Ours are $10 a bottle with artwork, labelling and GST included, and the minimum order is 24.
Why mini wine bottles work as table gifts
Most bonbonniere gets left behind. Candles, soaps, little jars of lollies, a good share of them end up in the venue’s bin at midnight.
Wine doesn’t. Guests take it home, and plenty of them keep the empty bottle or peel the label off and tuck it into the card.
A mini bottle also earns its spot on the table. Print the guest’s name on the label and you’ve replaced the place cards you were going to buy anyway. Print the event name and date and it becomes a keepsake nobody has to find shelf space for.
The maths is simple too. One bottle per seat, one flat price per bottle. No sizes to guess, no colours to match, no wondering what people like.
Choosing the right volume
Volume is where most people get stuck. Three sizes come up in conversation and only one of them really suits a place setting.

The 200mL piccolo is the one to use. It’s small enough to sit on a plate without crowding the setting, it travels home in a handbag or a jacket pocket, and it pours about a glass and a half. Depending on the wine, that’s roughly 1.5 to 2 standard drinks, so it’s worth having a look at the standard drinks guide when you’re working out how much alcohol will be on the floor across the night.
Half bottles look generous, but they sit awkwardly at a setting and the cost per guest climbs fast. Full-size bottles aren’t table gifts at all. Weddings, conferences and everything in between
Weddings are the obvious one. A mini bottle at each setting is the classic bonbonniere, and matching the label to your invitation pulls the whole room together. Send us a copy of the invite or a photo and our design team builds the artwork from there. You’ll get a proof by email before anything goes to print. Corporate events are just as common and usually bigger. Gala dinners, awards nights, conference closing dinners, end-of-year functions, charity fundraisers. Twenty tables of ten is 200 bottles, which sounds enormous until you realise it’s under nine cases.
Then there’s everything else. Sixtieth birthdays, engagement parties, christenings, anniversary lunches, Christmas lunches, product launches. Anywhere people sit down at a table with their name on a card, a mini bottle can sit there instead.
Custom label ideas
The label is the gift, so it deserves more than five minutes.
- Guest names, one label per person, so each bottle doubles as a place card
- The event name and date, which is what turns a drink into a keepsake
- A photo of the couple, the venue or the team
- Your invitation artwork carried straight across, so the table matches the stationery
- Colours matched to the palette rather than something close enough
- A short thank you line on a back label
Two things worth knowing before you brief us. Individual names mean individual artwork, so flag it early because it changes how the job is set up. And for corporate work, a logo on its own reads like giveaway stock. Add the event name and the year and people keep it.
How many to order, and when
Mini bottles come by the case of 24, and 24 is the minimum order.
Work on one per guest, then add 5 to 10 per cent. People break them, headcounts move, and you’ll want a couple for yourselves. Round up to the nearest full case regardless. A wedding for 80 lands neatly on four cases, which is 96 bottles at $10, so $960 with artwork, labelling and GST already in it.
Turnaround is normally 7 to 10 working days from the confirmed order. That’s the print run, not the design conversation before it, so allow extra time on top for proofs and changes. For a wedding we’d suggest locking the order in at least a month out. Chasing labels in the last fortnight before the day is nobody’s idea of fun.
Getting them onto the table
A few things that only come up once you’re setting the room.
Lay the bottle flat across the top of the setting with the label facing up if the table is tight or stand it on the side plate if you’ve got the room. Standing bottles photograph better.
Talk to the venue before you order. Some charge corkage on anything brought in, and a few won’t allow outside alcohol to be opened on site. It rarely stops the gift, since most guests take them home unopened, but you want to know beforehand.
Skip the kids’ table. Alcohol can’t be supplied to anyone under 18, so plan something else for those seats and for guests who don’t drink. A few bottles of our labelled water on the same tables covers it.
Keep them cool and out of the sun until service. A crate of piccolos sitting in a hot car boot for four hours is not the look you’re after.
